Panthers Preseason Kicks Off

Well, the season started last night for the Panthers. I used to be the kind of fan who could sit through all four preseason games (back when there were four) and watch every minute. Last night, the best I could manage was a half.

Right off the top, Haynes King looks like he has legit potential. What exactly that potential is remains up for debate: top-end backup? Starter in 2028? Who knows. But he looks legit: kept his eyes up, threw nice mid-range passes that looked effortless, unlike the current starter, and used his legs as advertised.

A few other notes:

• Trevin Wallace was playing? Is he a starter this year? Odd to see a projected starter on the field in the opener.

• Princely Umanmielen also got more run than expected, but he likely needs reps.

• Good to see Brady Christensen back on the field and getting reps. That should help his confidence.

• Ja'Tavion Sanders looks like he runs in mud.

• Sam Hecht needs to put on weight: muscle and mass.

• Will Lee looks legit. Good pick, nice depth.

• AJ Dillon is a better option right now over Jonathon Brooks. I certainly have more confidence in him.

• Lathan Ransom nearly killed that guy.

All in all, the game was entertaining.
