Depth Drought?

After scanning the current Panthers roster and projecting out the depth chart, things are largely looking encouraging for Carolina. The front office did solid work in both free agency and the draft, and the team appears to be trending in the right direction.

That said, one glaring weakness remains: the backup guard position. Chandler Zavala has been a liability whenever he's called upon, and that's a real concern given the circumstances. The starting guards have been stellar, but they're aging, and both have dealt with missed time recently. If either goes down for an extended stretch, the drop-off is significant.

The frustrating part is that there's no obvious fix available right now. Any free agent capable of being a genuine upgrade is going to want a starting role, not a backup spot. Carolina could have addressed it in the draft, but it's hard to argue too much with the picks they made, with perhaps one exception, Chris Brazzell.

For now, the depth behind the starting guards remains the one real question mark on an otherwise promising roster.
