Bryce as Nice

Video surfaced yesterday showing a visibly frustrated Bryce Young on the practice field, apparently unhappy with the effort from his wide receivers, whether that was one guy, a few, or the whole room, it doesn't matter. Predictably, some started applauding it, calling it a sign of leadership, a turning point.

I'd pump the brakes on that.

Bryce Young is not a fiery, chest-thumping, get-in-your-face kind of leader. He never has been. And heading into year four, the last thing he needs or anyone should want is for him to suddenly try to become that guy. That transformation doesn't work in your fourth NFL season. It looks forced and feels fake .

The leaders who earn respect in that locker room aren't the ones who manufacture intensity. They're the ones who are consistently themselves, calm when things fall apart, steady when the offense stalls, composed when big things happen.

Bryce's version of leadership should look like a quarterback who keeps his head when everything around him is going sideways. The guy who doesn't panic, doesn't point fingers, and plays his best football in the biggest moments. That should be his real identity.

Asking him to be something he's not is a short road to looking ridiculous, it's a distraction from actually winning games.
